FYI,The MPA will be hosting a 1.5 day seminar on July 19th and 20th in South Portland, Maine (where AAPP was last year). We're still working out some of the details, but we'll be covering the Utah ZCT, the Utah scoring system and the current DACA (DoDPI) scoring system. The cost will be $50.00. IP: Logged |

UPDATE.....UPDATE.....UPDATE.....UPDATE.....I just spoke with Jim Sackett in Las Vegas. It appears that the bookies don't want a piece of this one! They say it is just too close to call. Barry "The Beefcake" Cushman, is expected to come out early and strong with a wicked flury of Utah System Jabs. Dan "The Man" Mangan is also expected to come out strong with his vicious Backster Backhand! WOW-I can taste the pain! It is still unclear as to whether rnelson or stat will referee this exciting event. I do have a block of ringside tickets available so email me if you are interested. DING DING Ted IP: Logged |

The only thing that would drag me all the way to Maine would be to have lobster with Stephen King followed by early morning fishing in the lake that the movie "Lake Placid" was filmed in. sigh. I need a vacation. I've never been to Maine but in pictures it looks very rustic and the outlands appear in pics to be enchanting. Like Indianapolis though, Portland (the big town) looks like a clear-cut woods/ corn field with lights. Cities are more frequently starting to lose thier individuality. I swear if I see another Applebees I'm going to puke.IP: Logged |

There are all kinds of "Maines," and they all look different. I haven't see all of them yet, and some I don't care to.IP: Logged |

Please tell us what the best part of living in the state of Maine is. I could browse the internet for scoop, but tell us in your own words. My wife is from Cambridge (who cares, right?), but I can't actually recall meeting someone from that very large and off the beaten path state of yours. p.s. Wasn't Popeye from Maine? Hawkeye Pierce from M*A*S*H?IP: Logged |

Hawkeye was from some fictitious town in Maine. I always hated Tom Bosley's accent in Murder She Wrote.Maine's kind of funny. If you go up north - and why you'd want to, I don't know - they say everything south of Bangor is a suburb of Boston. If you like the outdoors, we've got plenty of that. You can still be the first to explore some parts of this country. IP: Logged |

Well, if it's any concellation, Frank Burn's character was supposed to be from Indiana, as well as the character Woody from Cheers. It seems we have a series of nitwits from Indiana. I live here for the Mexican Food.My mother in law mentioned moments ago having vacationed at Bar Harbor, Maine and remarked favoribly of the event. I might vacation up there next December----do you guys rent Taun Tauns? (I know Ray will get the Star Wars reference) [This message has been edited by stat (edited 05-13-2007).] IP: Logged |

Ray's not the only Star Wars fan here.If you decide on December, I suggest a course in igloo construction sometime before your trip in case we have snow. If you really like the cold, might I suggest January / February when you can build your igloo on the ice and go ice fishing. Bar Harbor is a ghost town at that time, so you'd have it all to yourself. Okay, here's the update:DATES / TIMES: July 19th and 20th (9:00 to 5:00 and 9:00 to 1:00) LOCATION: National Semi Conductor, South Portland, Maine FEE: $50.00 CONTACT: (MPA Secretary) Cathy Rumsey 207-947-7384 X5743 email: cathy.rumsey@bgrme.org The Comfort Inn (almost next door) still has rooms. (It's peak season, so they'll sell out.) Because it's the tourist season, prices are high. They are $144 per night, which is a group rate. If you call sales (207-775-0409), they'll honor that rate. I think the tauntauns are all housed elsewhere during the warmer months, so you're on your own there, stat. IP: Logged |

We could have used a taun taun on Vail pass last week, with lots and lots of wet slippery spring snow. Yesterday it was 6" of hail at my place in Denver. Good thing I parked the motorcycle after the morning.r ------------------ "Gentlemen, you can't fight in here. This is the war room." --(Stanley Kubrick/Peter Sellers - Dr. Strangelove, 1964)
